I go to yoga once a week. I don’t love it and I don’t hate it. I do it because I think it’s good for me – particularly in stretching out my angry legs and improving my non existent balance. I sometimes go to Pilates too, but I prefer yoga because there’s more of a sense of achievement in pulling off a difficult move after weeks and weeks of falling over trying. It was a very proud moment when I finally performed a Utthita Hasta Padangustasana without calamity. What I don’t like about yoga is the meditation aspect of it; I’m just not a very spiritual person and I don’t like relaxing. I’m afraid to say that I use the ten minutes of relaxation at the end to plan my shopping list or think about EastEnders. I would get up and leave if it wasn’t rude to do so!

I am incredibly stretchy and flexible but have very little sense of balance and as you can imagine this is an explosive combination during yoga. The class usually goes something like this:
Instructor: Wrap your left arm six times around your body, turn upside down and stick your nose in your ear.
Me: (does so with ease)
Instructor: Now lift your left foot half an inch off the ground.
Me: *splat* *crunch*
The other problem I have is that I have very poor proprioception, so once I start wrapping my body parts around each other, I can’t find them again. I go to grab my foot and it isn’t there and I have to look for it in the mirror, and this disrupts my concentration and I fall over. Again.
Anyway, the point of this post is to announce that today I did a thing where I went from a Crescent Lunge to grabbing my back leg to standing up whilst still holding on to my leg and felt so proud that I wanted to hop all the way home like that to show people. I tried to find a video but Google didn’t seem to know what I was talking about. I am not brave enough to try to do it again and video myself.
Track session with the ViewTubers tonight and 10k Chase The Moon race tomorrow. I am still snotty and just don’t have the time for a long run this week, but I’ve rejigged my training calendar so so somehow everything is still on track for Barcelona and the marathon so I am feeling a bit more optimistic.
